Boat Design Quarterly (BDQ) is a publication and website offering boat plans from top designers. In it, readers will find boat plans for paddle, oar, power, and sail, from well-known designers like Bolger, Chapelle, and Stephens.
Each design features a quality reproduction of the designer’s original drawings and complete hull lines for most boats. It also includes full particulars, sail plans, full line plans, and construction drawings. BDQ provides a succinct, impartial commentary on the design, along with the designer’s address. Each issue covers six designs and runs from 20 to 24 pages, without ads.
The Boat Design Quarterly website offers digital downloads of its issues.
The quarterly is published by Mike O’Brien. He worked as Associate Editor for Sailor magazine and Technical Editor for Soundings during the 1980s and was the Senior Editor at Woodenboat magazine for 20 years.
