His clear and concise book is one of the best guidelines you’ll find on using epoxy in wooden boat construction. It covers mixing and handling, surface preparation, gluing, clamping, filleting, sanding, glassing coating, creating flawless gloss coats, and more.

Epoxy Basics: included full-color photography and its large, spiral-bound format is perfect for the shop. It’s also available as a digital download. Visit ptwatercraft.com to learn more about this book or order a copy.

Brown, along with his wife Ashlyn, designs and sell kit boats through their company PT Watercraft in Port Townsend, Washington.

About PT Watercraft

PT Watercraft offers kits for new and unique boat designs that are efficient, functional, modern & attractive.

Ashlyn & Russell Brown started Port Townsend Watercraft in 2009. They work closely with local businesses and fabricators. Russell also fabricates small parts, composite parts, rigs, etc., and once all the bits and pieces are collected, he personally checks everything and packs the crates. Ashlyn is the web “master”, bookkeeper, public relations, and general manager. They work at their business full-time to create custom products they firmly believe in.

They focus on creating boats that answer the needs of serious cruisers, weekend camp cruisers, and environmentally conscious sailors and motor boaters. Their first kit was a fuel-efficient 18.5′ center console, the PT Skiff. Russell Brown’s modern performance nesting dinghy and the non-nesting PT Spear are his personal ideal in a dinghy. They’ve created their own unique hatch toggles or “turn dogs,” dinghy rigs, sails, dinghy foil kits, and original PTW stainless steel connective hardware. Rather than teach classes, Russell applies his knowledge in his stitch & glue builders’ manuals and working-with-epoxy instructional books.
