Jubilee Sailing Trust (Tenacious) Project

At the Jubilee Yard in Southampton England, progress continues on the Jubilee Sailing Trust ship. The ring frames are all erected, and for a short period, the completed skeleton of the ship resembled a giant toast rack.

The stern frame assembly consists of several individual members including the horn timber, dead wood and stern component parts. Together they weighed nearly three tons, and required great care when lifted into position. The builders have assembled the stern and laminated the upper deck and the beam shelves on the three decks.

The builders began planking the hull in early January of 1998. The finished hull will sport five layers of multi-directional planking, which will provide the structure with enormous strength. A mixture of WEST SYSTEM 105 Resin, 205 Hardener and 406 Colloidal Silica is used for bonding the planks into position.
